There are 6 teams in the Plate group. Each team plays 5 matches against the other teams. After these matches finish, the top 2 teams play one final match. The winner of this final becomes the champion.

The C.K. Nayudu Trophy has two levels: Elite and Plate. Elite has teams from bigger cricket states. Plate has teams from smaller or newer cricket states.
