Gujarat Titans retained a total of 20 players before heading to the IPL 2026 auction. They had traded Sherfane Rutherford to the Mumbai Indians and released five more players, including the overseas trio of Dasun Shanaka, Gerald Coetzee, and Karim Janat. This gave GT a purse value of INR 12.90 crore before heading to the auction.

During the auction, GT bought Luke Wood and Prithvi Raj Yarra at their respective base prices. For Rajasthan’s left-arm pacer, Ashok Sharma, GT paid INR 90 lakh. Apart from GT, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rajasthan Royals showed interest in Ashok. They had to fight another bidding war against CSK to sign former West Indies captain Jason Holder. Holder had a base price of 2 crore and was picked by GT for INR 7 crore.

Shubman Gill will continue to lead the side this year. Last season, GT finished third with 9 wins in 14 matches. They lost the eliminator game against the Mumbai Indians. Prasidh Krishna and Sai Sudharsan won the Purple and Orange Caps, respectively, as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker and run-scorer. This marked the fifth instance in IPL history of players from the same team winning both caps, with Gujarat Titans becoming the first franchise to achieve the feat twice.
