The Indian senior women’s hockey team is set to tour Argentina for a four-match series at CeNARD in Buenos Aires from April 13 to 17, with matches scheduled on April 13, 14, 16, and 17. The series promises intense, competitive contests against one of South America’s most formidable sides on their home turf.
FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 and Asian Games Drive India’s Argentina Tour
The tour serves as a crucial preparatory phase ahead of the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 in Belgium and the Netherlands, and the Asian Games later this year.

The two nations also share a competitive history. India and Argentina played out a thrilling 2–2 draw, decided by a shootout, in the FIH Pro League 2024–25 last June, raising anticipation for what this upcoming series could deliver.
India Women’s Hockey Squad of 24 Set for World-Class Preparation in Buenos Aires
Indian chief coach Sjoerd Marijne made clear the tour carries a broader purpose beyond results. A squad of 24 players has been selected, a deliberate choice to give more players exposure at the highest international level.
Marijne noted that Argentina’s world-class environment will reveal where each player stands and who steps up when it matters most. He also stressed team-first values, adding that individual quality must be backed by the ability to connect with the group, failing which, securing a squad spot would be very difficult.
The tour reflects Hockey India’s strategic push to build a strong, cohesive unit ahead of the year’s marquee tournaments.
